Mrs P A Tardy and assistants hid 400 eggs for 46 children in a Woodville school Easter event delayed from Friday. Four prize eggs plus chocolate eggs and jelly beans baskets were awarded to the eight top egg finders: A B Richie Elmer Mooney Pessie Thurman Joe Salvato Fay Mitchell Luke Restivo Mary Bonano Carlo Lister.
Little Wanda Lou Allphin daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Allphin celebrated her fifth birthday at her grandfather and grandmother Lees Mason home two miles from Madisonville. Relatives from Madisonville Pasadena Bryan and Lucy Upchurch Aunt Lucy attended and a noon feast featured baked chicken salads pies and a large birthday cake followed by an Easter egg hunt for the children.
At the Benchley home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie R. Peyton Jr. an Easter party entertained more than fifty friends with roses ferns and candles. Games included Old Brass Wagon Shoot the Buffalo and Old Miller. Luther Peyton performed with cowboy songs as Hugh Rice played 4 French harp. Bonner Garrett won first prize in an Easter egg contest. J L Fulton won second. Bananas were served after prizes.
Miss Christine Lichte of Bryan will be honored at the Southwest Sweetheart’s Ball and Semi Centennial Ball at the University of Texas on April 28. The event caps the semi centennial week as UT celebrates its fiftieth birthday with a staged show and costume revue featuring Lichte and other candidates from the Southwest Conference schools.
About 200 to 400 children searched for Easter eggs in Bryan sponsored by the Bryan Lions Club despite blustery weather. Participants gathered near Sue Haswell Mercorie Park and then fetched eggs with Lions or Bryan business firm names for prizes at Sankey Park store. Lions A D Jackson oversaw egg purchases and Sankey Park managed prize eyes while F D Fuller served as general chairman.
Miss Ella Mae Way and Will Walker wed Friday morning at their new Bryan home near Free Will Baptist church. Only Effie McLain and groom’s cousin Sam Walker attended. Rev. Roy Holloman officiated the ring ceremony. The bride wore blue with pink rose corsage. The couple then departed for San Antonio before returning to Bryan for the weekend.
The L. s. Ross Chapter U. D. C. will hold its monthly meeting Friday afternoon April 21 at the home of Mrs. F. L. Thomas on the A and M College campus. Joint hostesses will be Mrs. G. S. Fraps Mrs. M. K. Thornton Mrs. R. fi. Harrison Mrs. w. R. Thomas and Mrs. P. 8. Park. All members urged to attend. visiting Daughters of the Confederacy welcome.

The music committee under Wilson notes piano in the study hall and debt payoff plus song books and a one night entertainment. Scrapbook work led by Mrs J L Robertson nears completion with a feather cover planned. Membership totals 176 with a fall dairy cooperative grant of 95. The finance committee chair Mrs A Benbow reports oversight and cooperation with school authorities. Program chair Mrs J M Fountain describes planned programs and treasurer Mrs Forrest Jones reports balance 35 95 as of April 13.

FE. L. Dickerson of Wellborn was among Bryan's business visitors this morning, parsing local commerce and meeting with Bryan merchants and officials.

Stevenson, speaker of the Texas House, told 413 former Texas A. and M. students and wives at a College Station luncheon that government needs retrenchment and expenditures must fit projected revenues for the next biennium. He warned against dead timber in state institutions and opposed an income tax, urging support for the government rather than paternalism.
Texas agricultural bulletin led by Dr. F L Thomas warns the flea hopper is the season s most dangerous threat to the 1923 cotton crop.
