GCFWC to Meet Next Friday at Old Washington

The Grimes County Federation of Women's Clubs will meet at Washington Park on the Brazos April 21 at 10 a m with the Navarota ladies as hostess. Temperatures Show Small Variation Across Week

Last week saw little temperature change with a Friday drop of about 15 degrees. The high reached 88 degrees on Sunday and the low 41 on Friday night. Weekly rainfall totaled 0.87 inches, with 0.69 inches on Wednesday and 0.18 inches on Thursday.

A new oak floor was laid today in the office of County Judge A. B. McSwain to cover worn weak sections. Other courthouse members wondered if rising pressure or business warranted added support for the building.

Mrs L N Yeager presided at the women's meeting and announced the W M U District date as May 3 and 4 in Austin. City plans new water well and school roof repairs

Commissioned to ensure summer water supply the city will drill a 750 foot sand well with screens and gravel walls while repairing roofs on Stephen F Austin high Kemp high and the Negro elementary building. Family Reunion Held Sunday at Stephan Home in Bryan

A Bryan Easter weekend family reunion gathered the sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. T. Turner. Dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Stephan on Fest 26th street. Guests included J. Fire damages Allen Academy storage area

A fire Sunday morning at Allen Academy in Bryan damaged a store room in the basement of Bryan Hall. The blaze started in tarpaulins tents and web belts, and the fire department arrived in time to confine the damage to smoke effects with no major structural loss.

Fire Razes South Bryan Home with Loss of Contents

The residence of Mr. and Mrs. K. T. Cheatham on Beck Street in South Bryan burned at noon today. The fire, likely from a defective flue, left Mrs. Cheatham at home and saved little more than washed clothes on the line. The home was partly insured.

Easter Egg Hunt At Travis Elementary For Second Grade

The second grade at Travis Elementary School held an Easter egg hunt Friday afternoon. Miss Annie Dearing and grade mothers appointed by the Travis PTA arranged a well drained spot in Sue Has Well Park, hid the eggs, and rewarded prize eggs. Ice cream was served after the hunt. Breeders of registered Holstein cattle at Texas A and M report rising demand for herd sires and young cows as prices stay low. Eighteen Holsteins on semi official test in Class B show promising records led by Princess Aggie with 119.5 lbs fat and over two tons of milk in 61 days. Norine Dean TM Nazis produced 50.8 lbs fat in 31 days for a 113 day total fat of 206.9 lbs. Five cows surpassed 300 lbs fat in 153 to 298 days.

Honors Are Won By Austin Girl Well Known Here

Mrs. Ervin H. Astin learned Sunday that Ste Wright of up who formerly lived in Bryan and visits here often was a member of the dramatic team of 24 high schools that won a place in the district interscholastic finals and won first among individuals for her performance. Wright was admitted to the National Honor Society for scholarship this year, winning first place. She is the daughter of Mrs. Don Lee of Austin and the niece of Mrs. Astin Miss Allie Conway and Mr. Hendrix Conway of Bryan.

Frankie Hall the young son of Mr and Mrs Mal Hall is able to walk today on his leg burned when he fell against the stove. Terry Cone Hall the older son has been ill for several days and is thought to have measles.
