Houston Artist to Speak at Woman's Club Luncheon

Mrs FE Richard Cherry a noted Houston artist will be the guest speaker next Thursday at 12:30 for the Brazos County Federation monthly luncheon in Bryan. She will lecture on Art Appreciation and bring canvases to illustrate. The event includes a three course dinner and Easter decor.

Annual Banquet Of Bible Class At LaSalle Hotel

The Young Men's Bible Class of College Avenue Baptist church held its annual banquet at the LaSalle Hotel featuring a program of music readings and ventriloquism. Mike Barron served as master of ceremonies. Performers included Calvin Terrell Gordon Mitchell and Miss Bessie Lou Wiley with comedian exchanges and a ventriloquist act by W C Alexander assisted by a marionette cadet.

PTA Aids Needy Children in College Station Area

The rural education committee led by Mrs. B D Marburger of the A and M Consolidated School PTA distributed 100 coats over 500 garments about 75 pairs of shoes and 50 hats this year. They investigated conditions of rural homes and focused aid on tenant farmers while organizing lunches school supplies and Christmas gifts for needy families and children.

Farmer reports high cotton yield on nine-acre test plot

LevlLland April 11. John Bolf of two and a half miles north of town reports what is believed to be the county’s best 1952 cotton production. On nine measured acres he gathered ten and a half bales from the Sunshine Rowden long-staple variety. He cultivated the plot seven times before planting.

Miss Mildred Salley reports plans for a May musical to the Women's Choral Club of Bryan during a regular rehearsal and meeting at the Woman's Club building. Fox Hound Lore At Moonlit Barbecue Near Bryan

About 100 Bryan men gathered six miles from Bryan on Highway 6 for a moonlit barbecue to swap fox hunting tales. They discussed Brer Fox and praised foxhounds, describing crosses of bloodhound and greyhound with bulldog influences. J. H. Bailey and T. L. Barnett attended from near North Zuleh.
