Building Exhibit L E Snavely a prominent citrus grower and shipper from Harlingen has been chosen as general chairman of the Texas World’s Fair Commission. He aims to assemble a Texas exhibit for the Century of Progress in Chicago from June 1 to November 1. About one third of the $150000 estimated for the exhibit has been pledged, and payments are being made. Work on the exhibit has begun and will be ready when the exposition opens June 1.

Funeral Service for Sam P Upwright Held in Bryan
Funeral services were held Saturday at three o'clock at the deceased Sam P Upwright's late residence three miles west of Bryan. Interment followed at the family burying ground in Henry cemetery. Dr. W H Andrew of Bryan's First Baptist Church conducted the grave service. Upwright, born January 19 1884 in Bryan, died Friday afternoon after months of illness. Survived by widow Estelle Henry Upwright, two brothers Albert of Bryan and George of Houston, and four sisters Minnie Wyatt Houston Nannie Cobb Dewey Jones and Kittle Upwright all of Bryan. McCulloch Dansby Funeral Directors of Bryan directed arrangements.

Harry Estill, a Bryan outdoors observer, spotted 25 to 30 sandhill cranes near Edge Wednesday around noon. The birds circled slowly in broken formation as if seeking a feeding landing, a rare sight for this near extinct North American crane. Estill noted first martin and chimney sweep sightings as signs of spring.

City Bonds Bought At Discount Save Taxpayers Money
City Manager R G Williams arranged the purchase of $6,000 in power plant bonds at 82.75 cents on the dollar to save about $975 off par. Fire damages home of W. R. Thomas in burst of flames
Sunday night a fire gutted a bedroom and damaged interior of W. R. Thomas home at 28th and Baker while the family attended church. Estimated value 3500 for the house and 4500 for contents, partially insured. Fire kept inside by a composition roof. Extinguished 30 minutes after alarm. Also a fire at Blue Bell cafe on North Main due to kitchen grease caused two smaller fires and smoke damage with no loss estimate.
