Virgil T. Schrock Dies in Lindsay California Funeral Rites Held

Virgil T. Schrock 65 a Missouri native and Lindsay resident died early Saturday from a heart blood clot after two years of poor health. Funeral services were held Monday at Webb chapel with Rev Thomas Miller and burial in Olive Cemetery. Survived by wife Ida Chittum Schrock six daughters three sons including Fern Schreck Lindsay and Keith Schrock Lindsay. two brothers and three sisters in the East.

Tillie the Toiler film stars Harris in electric novelty

Tillie the Toiler a photoplay based on Russ Westover cartoon plays at the Electric Theatre Saturday and Sunday. Kay Harris of Cincinnati stars as Tillie a lively stenographer whose life centers on work dates and dresses. Navy Enlistees To Take Oath Across Nation June 7

U S Navy will administer the Oath of Allegiance to all men enlisting between May 31 and June 7 1942 at 7 55 A M local times at 500 recruiting stations nationwide. Applicants must report to the Chillicothe Missouri recruiting station for processing and a final physical in Kansas City before Sunday June 7.

Merle Smith of Queens City bought Henry Fields hatchery in Browning. The hatchery season closed with about 130000 chicks sold this season. Oren Taylor, in charge for two years, is undecided about future plans.

Memorial Services for James Myers Held at High School

Memorial services for James Gernie Myers, who died in service at Pearl Harbor on December 7 1941, were held Sunday May 31 at the high school auditorium under the American Legion Post. Rev Sterling Ward of Chillicothe preached the sermon. Mrs Myers received a large U S flag from the Post.

Navy Sailor James Gernie Myers Dies at Pearl Harbor

James Gernie Myers born May 2 1906 on a farm near Browning Missouri lived there until age twelve. He enlisted May 3 1927 in Kansas City Missouri served on the battleship Arizona as Storekeeper First Class and was declared lost at Pearl Harbor December 7 1941. He married Velma Pearson of Seattle and had two sons James Gernie Jr and Gordon A Myers. Survived by mother and sisters. father and two brothers predeceased him. His family and local Legion post remember him with Flanders Fields verse.

General Purpose Club Meeting at Mrs Wickham’s

The General Purpose Club met on Thursday May 28 with twelve members seven children and three men present at Mrs Blanche Wickham’s for an all day social event. After lunch and songs Ruth Lantz gave a talk on economy in buying and preparing food. Contests followed including a one minute speech for slips and a railroad style spelling game. Mrs Ross Lantz won the prize and Mrs Powell received secret sister gifts. The day closed with all leaving satisfied. Next meeting set with Mrs Alice Duckworth on June 1.
