Bride-elect honored with bridal shower in Plains
Sharon Thompson of Plains, bride-elect of Billy Sims of Lubbock, was feted at a bridal shower on Saturday May 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mrs. Macky McWhirter’s home in Plains. Guests wore colored carnations, the event featured silk arrangements, a china gift, and a registry table, with the couple set to marry in Lubbock on July 9.

Plains Art Association plans August show with donor entries
In Plains August 4-6 the Art Association will host a show in conjunction with the Old Settlers Reunion. Linda Powell chairs the event held in the Art Building with Pam Davis of Lubbock as guest artist demonstrating a pastel donkey. Members must pay July 1 dues to exhibit. July 5 meeting will discuss rules and entries for 1983 84 art yearbooks.

Topics included the April 22-23 plant and yard sale which raised $201, plans for a ZIA Nursery trip to Lovington, NM, and the 25th anniversary in 1983. Plains 4-H Club Hosts Parent Cookout and Fashion Programs
Plains 4-H Club hosted a parent cookout at Stanford Park in Plains on May 13 with 75 attendees. The club had sponsored a Clothing Fun Fair at Yoakum County Park. Linda Wall led a color analysis and makeup update program, Mrs. Linda Powell spoke on accessories and wardrobe fashions, and Mary Dale Williams County agent discussed scarves while demonstrating candlewicking. Attaway Fashions of Denver City provided the accessories and wardrobe items.

A M Economist to Speak Wednesday at Plains Clubroom
Wayne Hayenga economist with Texas A&M University will speak Wednesday June 22 at 8 30 p m in the Plains clubroom. He will discuss possible tax deductions farm and home financial planning and estate planning. Hayenga is recognized as an authority and engaging speaker in these fields.
