Toward Caucus Reform After 1907 Local Debate
The October 15 1907 editorial critiques the Republican caucus packing by Democrats and Citizens and calls for a simple caucus law. It argues packing disenfranchises voters, undermines civil liberty, and urges voters to declare party allegiance in annual town clerk books to restrict caucus participation to enrolled partisans. It stresses that voters should always have a choice at the polls.
