Aikman Corp. refuses a 130 908 offer for its plant. The sale involved land, a two story brick mill, office and storage facilities, a four story mill, and a roof section. Officials expected further bids as the assessed value stood at 437 050 last December. Charles J. Falugo Inc. and Bristol Development Corp. both placed bids during the auction.

North Farm of this town reports Melissa the Guernsey cow set an official production record in the A R division of the American Guernsey Cattle Club with 16 407 pounds of milk and 955 pounds of fat in 365 days at two daily milkings supervised by the University of Rhode Island. The farm also sold the registered bull Northern O Paymaster to James Marish Jr of Kinderhook New York, bull out of Northern Conrads Lucky who had a 15 614 pound milk and 927 pound fat record on two daily milkings for 365 days.
Frederick J. Gorman of the Providence Social Security office urged that severely disabled workers with at least five years of employment should apply for disability benefits by June 30 to retain protections. Those already employed and disabled long term have no deadline if filing within a year of becoming disabled.
Manuel Andrade of 10 Rock St reported a missing 25 horsepower Johnson outboard motor last seen Sunday night. Raymond Clayton of 18 Bourne St reported a red English bicycle last seen on Fatima Dr missing in town.
The derby will be held Sunday at 5 30 pm on Bay en Ave open to boys aged 8 to 14 who have never raced professionally. Entries must be homemade soapboxes with helmets provided by entrants or the committee. Prizes will be awarded by George C. Lima. Anthony Agatiello chairs the event with assistants Rishe Luther Monofo and others.
The Bristol Fourth of July Tag Day raised 332.61 under chairwoman Mrs. Earl G. Sturdevant. Girl Scouts Troop 164 led by Mrs. Joseph DuPont contributed most to the success, with strong town generosity noted. Assistance came from Mrs. adwlthold and Mrs. Frank L. Martin.
