U S Rubber to Start Assault Wire Production in Bristol Plant

United States Rubber Company officials announced Bristol plant will manufacture military assault wire for the Signal Corps within a month or two. The project involves remodeling the 22 building for a $3,143,000 government contract and over $700,000 authorized by the Defense Plant Corporation. The new wire weighs 28 to 29 pounds per mile versus 160 pounds for the old type, promising a major mobility advantage.

Planning Board Will Cooperate On Town Beach

The Planning Board promises full cooperation with the newly formed Recreation Board to solve the town bathing beach issue. Members visited several potential sites and will present a report to the Town Council soon, with input from the Recreation Board. Chairman A A Edmonds said state officials will meet locally to align with the Master Plan and noted the need to protect vital town records.

Lawn Party at St Andrew's Club Supports School Fund

St Andrew's Club of St Michael's Church held a lawn party on parish grounds Saturday to benefit St Andrew's School in Barrington and to support the club's junior summer activities fund. The event was planned with help from club director George S. Pailthorpe and assistants William Gablinske Jr., Harold Tucker, John Anderton, Harold W. Manchester Jr., Robert E. Bullock and Richard Usher.

Bridge Benefit for Fourth of July Fund in St Michael’s Parish Hall

A bridge tournament to stage tonight at St Michael’s Parish House will raise funds for the Fourth of July celebration. Sixty eight to seventy tables, red white and blue decor, candy baskets, four special prizes and a door prize will be awarded alongside bridge prizes.

Due to duties as civilian defense director Mayor Fiorella H. La Guardia of New York City cannot attend Bristol July Fourth ceremonies to deliver the principal address after the parade.
