More Scholarships Will Be Available
The foundation plans additional awards up to a maximum of 1100 to help high school students. Grants arise as local scholarships are freed by state aid, enabling more recipients. A July Fourth fundraising drive is organized by C Edward Menezes with teams collecting donations after the parade. Barbara Balzano McAloon coordinates parade participation. Nathan Eisenstadt urges continued local club support.

Recreation Board Seeks Romano Retention
The town treasurer has not yet received the opinion of Town Solicitor Frank L. Martin on whether Jeremiah W Romano can be paid by the Recreation Board. Board chairman John Carre insists the work is essential to the beach program and would be handled by Romano if permitted, while awaiting legal ruling expected by June 24. The board also addresses beach erosion from heavy rains and high tides, proposing to buy 200 yards of sand from Francis Brothers at 145 per yard with free spreading.
