Bristol Boy Frank Ferraro Reported Killed in Action

The War Department lists Private Frank W. Ferraro of Middletown Connecticut as killed in action on June 2 but a telegram and nurse letter suggested he died April 20. Ferraro enlisted March 26 1917 from Middletown in Company C 102d US Infantry at age seventeen.

Military Minstrel Show by 3rd Company New Bedford

The 3rd Company New Bedford of Fort Rodman will stage a minstrel show at the Pastime Theatre on Tuesday evening June 11 to benefit the Company Fund. The program includes a military first part and vaudeville with a farce in the second. Tickets are sold at Hamall's Dry Goods and by company members.

Draft calls 280000 men to June service with 2500 from Rhode Island

Official announcement states about 280000 men will be called to the colors in June with report due June 24. The exact camp assignments remain undecided, and apportionments are withheld for now. Rhode Island’s quota is near 2500, with plans ready and the draft machinery set to begin.

Citizens and aliens born between June 6 1896 and June 5 1897 must appear at the federal building for in person registration tomorrow June 5 between 7 am and 9 pm. Captain Iverson and the USS Dupont crew announce a military dance at the Naval Armory in Bristol on Monday June 10 at 8 pm to benefit Athletic and Red Cross funds. Fall River couple marks 10th wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs Nelson G Terry of Fall River celebrate the tenth anniversary of their marriage at home. A musical program and fine supper entertained a large Bristol gathering including relatives from Boston New York Brockton and this town. The couple received many gifts notably a mahogany piano lamp. Mrs Terry is Mary Rounds prior to marriage.

Annual Fishing Trip To Camp Colts Near Norcross Maine

Col Samuel P Colt leads a party of friends on a three week fishing trip to Camp Colts at the foot of Mt Katha din near Norcross Maine. Enlistments in the war reduced guides and the group is smaller than previous years. Members include LeBaron B Colt H J Gross Edwin A Barrows Walter S Ballou Calvin S May and Edward M Guild. Manuel de Lima was acquitted of assault on John de Lima in the Fifth District Court before Judge F H Hammill yesterday morning. In Juvenile Court 15 year old Joseph Mello was arraigned on multiple break in charges and the case was continued for one week.

The Fourth of July Committee met to arrange athletic events for Independence Day with races and bicycle events starting at 2 30 PM and prizes to be awarded. The First Light Infantry Band of Providence was hired to furnish parade music and a concert on the Common in the afternoon and evening.

Fred Cecil Eastman, a commercial traveler, and Miss Alice Gertrude Baker were married Saturday evening at 5 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. C. McGilton at the State Street ME Church parsonage with attendants Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McCaw.
