Services At Union Church On Prudence Island
Prudence The Rev Carleton Worcester of Oakland Beach will speak at the Union Church Sunday morning on Prudence Island. A chowder supper and fritters by Capt Halsey Chase will be held Saturday August 3rd to mark the 20th anniversary. Glen Paine will be guest speaker. On Sunday August 4th the anniversary sermon will be given by Rev R K Morton of Pawtucket. On August 11 Rev Robert Little of Cohassett Mass will speak and on August 18 and September the Rev Herbert H Deck of Springfield will speak.

Four volunteer fire companies responded to a general alarm when grease in the oven of a gas stove at Edward N Monahan’s 11 Byfield Street home caught fire around 5 PM. Monahan quickly shut the oven door, preventing greater damage, and the blaze was extinguished with a hand extinguisher.
