County Hospital Idea Again Being Studied

Bristol County hospital project explored by Warren and Bristol Rotary Clubs. Chairman Rev Arthur M Dunstan seeks federal aid details, surveys veterans support, and contemplates a war memorial hospital funded by three towns with community input from Edward FitzGerald Stephen Hopkins Joseph Pine Paul Herzig and Dr Capone.

Appreciation Expressed By Rev Arthur W Burdon

The Rev. Arthur W. Burdon, chairman of the local Emergency Food Collection, announced that 4100 pounds of food and sixty four packages were collected in Bristol during the drive. He thanked the general committee and praised churches and schools for their effort amid hardship. He noted donations enabled wholesale purchases and thanked Rotary Club, several churches, and the packing and truck teams for cooperation.

Classes Of 41 42 Plan Joint Reunion

The Classes of 1941 and 1942 at Bristol Senior High School plan a joint reunion. Presidents Norman Rene and Samuel Del Piano call a class officers meeting for Monday evening July 29 at 8 in the YMCA to finalize plans. They note they are the two largest graduating classes from the school.

Rhode Island Veterans Reinstate Insurance Postwar

Rhode Island veterans in July 1946 reinstated policies worth over 1 million dollars as VA liberalizes rules allowing reinstatement without medical exams. With two paid premiums and a signed health statement, lapsed policies may be revived until January 1 1947.

Boy Scouts Return From Camp After Busy Week

Scouts from First Bristol Troop and Troop Three of town returned from Camp Yawgoog in Rockville Rhode Island after a week of recreation and awards. Manuel Torres Jr led track wins while the Backwoods camp earned the division title and honors for Belmore Estrella and Flynn.

Veterans Return Drives War Memorial Poll in Bristol

About 250 veterans have returned their ballots in Bristol for a World War II Memorial poll. Town funds totaling 15000 are set to back the project, with options including a recreation hall park or Welcome Home celebration and space for autosuggestions.

Welcome Home Banquet Honors 65 Local Veterans

A 65 member and sons of members of the Provincia di Foggia Citizens Club were saluted at a Sunday welcome home banquet at the New Highland Casino. Governor John O. Pastore spoke of aid for veterans and paid tribute to those who died in service. Toastmaster Joseph Sansone led proceedings. Bertram W Wall and other local officials also addressed the assembly. A moment of silence remembered four fallen veterans.

Class Of 44 Holds Reunion At New Highland Casino

The Bristol Senior High School class of 1944 held its first reunion with sixty five members attending dinner and dancing at the New Highland Casino. George Oliver presided as president with Ralph Celone Louise Bonvicin and Herbert Hayden among officers. Some members were absent due to military service or college. The reunion committee included Bonvicia Sousa Alfano McKenna Brownell and Campanella. Rocco Migliori and wife announce their daughter Lucy engagement to Frank Smigelski of Alpena Michigan.
