Fales Rd Residents Drop Plan for New Water Main

Residents of Fales Road abandoned a proposed 1600 foot eight inch water main after only 11 of 30 potential users signed on. Frank Balzano announced the decision to Bristol County Water Co manager Fred Stradling, blaming the 19 nonparticipants. The plan, financed by Industrial National Bank, would have shared costs and offered reimbursements to signers.

Wide Sports Program Set For Celebration

The athletic committee plans a celebration week with a football game and two baseball games. Rogers High Newport faces Bristol Senior at Guiteras Field on Sept 17 at 2 PM. Baseball games include Sunday Sept 18 and Wed Sept 21 with times 5 PM and 2 PM. An afternoon of track for youths in three age groups is planned with date undecided. Volleyball exhibition on Monday Sept 1L is also possible.

Democrat Club Hosts Hot Dog Roast and Meeting

Mrs Gladys M Brightman welcomed 30 members of the Women's Democratic Club for a hot dog roast and meeting. Hilda Ferris was named publicity chairman. other captaining board members include Josephine Gancz Lucy Gravath and Sylvia Hall. The club offered services to the 275th event committee and Brightman, who will run a food sale for anniversary committees. The annual bridge event is set for Monday Oct 24 at Midway Steak and Lobster House with Mary Dennis and Theresa Souto as co chairmen. Additional committees cover tickets refreshments prizes candy door prizes and accessories with Peggy Connors and Vasta L Ruggiero named among organizers.
