German Submarine Seizes Fishing Vessel Triumph Off Maine

The editor reports a German submarine has seized and armed the fishing trawler Triumph and is causing havoc among American and Canadian fleets in northern waters. Six schooners have fallen to the raider, which has 16 German crewmen and operates with two guns and wireless. The Triumph, with 20 days of coal, was commanded to raid the fishing fleet. Maine public safety officials say spies may be active in Maine amid submarine activity off New England.
