Rhode Island drafts age extension impacts register

Rhode Island plans to register 83 407 men under a draft age extension from 18 to 45. Capt George H Webb Director of the Draft presented the estimate to Gov Beeckman at the State House noting it uses the 1910 census as a basis and aims for precise net figures. The total eligible within the age span is slightly over 92 000 before deductions for men already in service.

Paris Hospital Letter From Wounded American Soldier

Miss Louis Malafronte, daughter of Mr and Mrs Luigi Malafronte, received a Friday letter from her cousin Frank Ferraro Jr in Co B 102nd Infantry US Army Ameri can Expeditionary Force. He was wounded by shrapnel in the left shoulder and is in a Paris hospital after two operations. Previously reported killed in action, Young Ferraro is a son of Mr and Mrs Frank Ferraro Mount Hope avenue. He enlisted at 17 in Middletown Conn and has been in France for over a year.

Car Jr. Tour Promotes Food Conservation in Bristol

MAR GODKING announces Car Jr. will tour Rhode Island under the State Food Conservation Committee. On Saturday August 24 at 7 p.m. the event will be on the Bristol Common near Wood and State streets with addresses in English and Italian inviting all interested in food conservation.

All male persons who reached their 21st birthday since June 5 1918 and before August 24 1918 must register on August 24 1918. They should consult local draft boards for registration guidance.
