Home Service Opens Red Cross Bureau at YMCA Bristol
The Home Service Bristol Branch of the American Red Cross will open a bureau at the Y M C A to assist families of service members. The office handles allotment and allowance questions and will operate Mondays 3:30 to 6 pm, Wednesdays 7 to 9 pm, and Thursdays 3:30 to 6 pm beginning August 26.

Flag Raising Tomorrow At Herreshoff Boat Shops
A flag raising event is planned at the steel working department of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company boat shops tomorrow afternoon between 12 and 1 o clock. A band concert on Hope Street near the shop will precede patriotic speeches and the flag raising near the building south of the public bath house. A pontoon will be launched at high tide shortly after 10 a m.

Bugler John E. Hassett of Co. D 23rd Infantry, wounded July 18 1918 near Limoges France, sends a vivid account to his grandfather Michael Hassett of 248 Hope Street. He recalls helping fellow soldiers, receiving first aid from Robert McBride of Springfield Mass, and being carried to safety by Red Cross workers then to Field Hospital No 1 where Chaplain Larned and Chaplain Coggeshall offered support.

Blossom Bloom Show At Blithewold Estate Sunday
Due to cloudy weather the 17 year old night blooming cereus at Blithewold greenhouses near McKee Ferry Hill is expected to bloom Sunday evening. James A.
