Caruso Laments Low Public Turnout for V J Day Events
Fortunato Caruso chairman of the V J Day observance committee says the public’s lack of response to parade and exercises reflects broader apathy rather than his leadership. He notes Rhode Island is the only state to make V J Day a legal holiday while memorial and Armistice Days attract more public tribute. Bristol suggests the turnout mirrors a common pattern beyond his city.
