Reason for Exodus to Canada and cheap land lure
An Associated Press dispatch notes Canada plans three towns weekly for eighteen months in the western provinces. Immigration agents push U S settlers to move north, with 600,000 leaving the U S over ten years and taking 500,000,000 in capital to Canada. The main lure is cheap land aided by local tax exemptions that shift government revenue onto land, discouraging speculation and idle holding while encouraging actual land use.
