Stiff Money Lifts Bonds as Foreign Issues Edge Higher
Stiffening money rates pressured bond prices with early firming giving way to offerings as funds shift for month end. Liberty bonds led declines while Mexican government issues and Brazilian and Belgian bonds posted new 1924 highs. Rail stocks slid late as rates rose. Frisco, Seaboard, Katy, Northern Pacific, and Pere Marquette showed mixed moves amid profit taking and renewed interest in Paris Lyon Mediterranean debt. A $9000000 loan issue for the Paris Lyons Mediterranean railroad is slated for bankers tomorrow with 7.75 percent yield.
