Pioneer Doole Woman Celebrates 90th Birthday at Brady Home
Mrs. J. L. Barnes longtime Doole merchant and Doole area matriarch marked her 90th birthday with a Feb 12 afternoon reception at the Brock home in Brady. About 40 relatives and friends attended as relatives from San Angelo Big Spring Presidio Austin Doole gathered to honor her. Barnes operated a Doole general store 1919 to 1942 and has lived in Brady since 1948.

The Town and Country Home Demonstration Club met on Wednesday February 8 at the home of Mrs Novice Williams. Mrs Leo Oates led the roll call with members answering the color they wear best. Mrs Travis Calliham spoke on Learning to Grow Old Gracefully and a McCalls February issue article Six Pills To Happiness was shared. Refreshments of roasted pecans cookies and coffee were served to the listed members. The next meeting will be February 23 with Mrs Ernest Johnson as hostess.

Mrs. M F Lohn longtime McCulloch County resident was feted at her Brady home 405 S China last Saturday on her 87th birthday. Her daughter Mrs R T Holliday hosted the gathering as neighbors and friends stopped by to wish her well. One guest included Mrs Clyde Wright of Washington whom she had not seen in years.

The Fife Home Demonstration Club met February 9 at Mrs. Paul Sohn’s home with president Mrs. Guy Phillips presiding. Members shared “A Job I Have Learned to Make Easier” and discussed THDA district and state meetings.
