Licensing Board Bans Free Drinks to Customers
The Licensing Board last night issued a circular to liquor dealers asking them to stop treating customers with free drinks. The plea notes the practice has grown citywide and urges dealers to discontinue it in the future.
Licensing Board Urges Ban on Free Drinking in Bar Rooms
The Licensing Board declares giving away or serving free drinks by employees wrong in principle and harmful to customers. It urges licensees to stop the practice immediately by ensuring bartenders are paid. The board also warns saloon keepers to comply with laws forbidding sub letting food sales. Licenses will be revoked if a licensee neglects to maintain required food service facilities. It states that allowing another to run victualler business for profit means the licensee ceases to conduct the licensed business.
