No Action On Negro Bishop In Episcopal Church

Funeral for Mrs. Mary Collins Held in Quincy

Relatives and friends gathered at St. John's Church for Mrs. Mary Collins of 199 South Street Quincy funeral. High mass of requiem conducted by Rev. John J. Coan with Gregorian chant by the church choir. Interment followed in St. Mary's cemetery. In her 69th year she died unexpectedly. widow of James Collins and survived by son Timothy J. Collins, a Quincy newspaper man.

In Monroe Louisiana on October 22 a Black man Warren Eaton accused of insulting a white woman was taken from jail by a mob early this morning and hanged to a telegraph pole.

Lynch Named New York State Labor Commissioner

The Senate unanimously confirmed James M. Lynch of Syracuse, president of the International Typographical Union, as State labor commissioner with an $8000 annual salary. Seven Lithuanian residents testified before the Norwood Board of Selectmen at the second day of hearings charging former Police Chief James W. Lavers. They stated they paid him $5 to $25 to secure immunity from arrest and leniency in trials as well as permission to have beer and liquor at weddings.

Manuel Matthews, a 12 year old child from Brewer, died after a kitchen fire while left alone as his father Oscar Matthews went for water. He succumbed at Bangor hospital hours later.
