New York and Straitsville Coal and Iron saga
The New York and Straitsville Coal and Iron company is traced from its 1880 Boston and New York listing to its promoter led scheme. Promoters sold stock on high earnings with fake certificates, hid losses, and faced a market collapse as pool certificates failed. Reorganization plans for Rochester and Pittsburg rail and West Shore lines are outlined along with management shifts and a major depot project.

Insolvency Hearing Over Wright Worster Co Assets
In a Friday insolvency court session before Judge McKim the assignees of Wright Worster and Co faced opposition from creditors over the firm’s allowance. The firm, once sound, failed for about 450000 after engaging in outside ranch ventures in New Mexico and Texas and issuing ranch notes. Boston creditors hold much of the debt, with North Bank at 24000 secured by ranch collateral. Creditors agreed to 30 cents on the dollar, while assignees charged 2009 each for services. Hearing adjourned to November 6.
