A new stone bridge to replace the Charles River crossing near the Stadium appears practically assured. Architect John Clapp designed the structure, and plans have won favor with the Metropolitan Park Commission and other officials.
Plans align with earlier objections of the War Department and Larz Anderson of Brookline may renew his 350000 gift for the bridge. Two years ago he withdrew the offer after department objections. A Park Commission hearing featured supporters including former Harvard President Charles W. Eliot and city leaders such as James F. Alyward and Louis Ek.
The forecast calls for fair weather with rain or snow on the Maine coast Sunday. Northwest winds will diminish as conditions improve.

The Chamber of Deputies approved amnesty by 114 to 28 for mutinous crews aboard the Minas Geraes Sao Paulo and coast defense ships Marshal Floriano Deodora and scout Bahia. The Senate had earlier passed the measure unanimously. The vote followed stormy floor scenes and fisticuffs as President Fonseca had indicated he would sign if Parliament approved.

Driven by hunger, about 1000 sea gulls attacked Sicilian fishermen Manuel Devoto and Vincenti Cenedelli yesterday off Moon Island. The birds pursued them to a wharf where 20 other fishermen fought them off with boat hooks and oars. Devoto was found severely wounded, bleeding from multiple beak and claw injuries.
Devoto and Cenedelli struggled with a flock of seabirds off Moon Island as gulls swarmed the dory. A gull grabbed a fish, the others covered the boat, Devoto fell injured and they steered to the harbor with the birds following and taking nearly all their night catch.
Crowds from Forest Hills to Union streets were turned away from Elevated ticket offices yesterday afternoon as officials announced no tickets to Charlestown. An axle break at the incline foot to the North station halted service beyond North for about two and a half hours.
Chester M. Goodwin shot Bertram W. Galloway at 7 30 in Galloway's Danvers home after intervening in a dispute between Galloway and his wife Eva L. Galloway. The single bullet struck the heart and Goodwin fled, leaving investigators seeking him. He is described as 22 years old, 5 feet 4 inches, 145 pounds, dark complexion with a hooked nose and moles. wore a black derby, blue sack coat with white stripe, and dark blue trousers.
Goodwin aged 22 and Galloway aged 25 were longtime friends who worked together at Middleton on gypsy moth extermination for the State. Goodwin, formerly a conductor for the Boston & Northern Street Railway, fled and is hunted for murder across the State.

George Riddle, a well known Shaks pere reader, was found unconscious on the Common opposite West street at 11:30 last night. He was taken to Relief Hospital in critical condition with cerebral trouble and did not regain consciousness. His sister at 6 Arrow street Cambridge was contacted. The only identification was his name on his clothing.
Miss Riddle identified her brother at a Boston hospital after a long battle with rheumatic fever. Born in Charlestown in 1851, he studied at Chauncy Hall and Harvard, forged a stage career with Edwin Booth and the Boston Museum, taught elocution at Harvard, and gained nationwide fame for readings of Shakespeare and classics.
In Columbia South Carolina, November 25, a man who confessed to attacking Nannie May Shealey and slashing her throat was killed by a mob about three-quarters of a mile from Little Mountain. The mob dispersed after the act.
