Representative Norman H. White of Brookline sent a letter to Governor-elect Eugene N. Foss pressing his stance against Lodge's reelection. Foss said he would answer White’s letter today, continuing the exchange over national politics and Senate contests.
Hon Eugene N Foss of Boston replies to a statement with sharp denials. He rebukes the claim that his election is a verdict against Mr Lodge and says the remarks lack legal or constitutional basis. The exchange centers on the role of a messenger of the people and the Republican ticket.
In Guerrero forces clash as Francisco I. Madero is wounded while leading rebels. Federal troops push rebels back as Diaz forces move toward full control. Washington reports indicate order returning and border troops likely unnecessary.
Henry Lane Wilson, the American ambassador to Mexico, telegraphs the State Department that the Diaz government shows an optimistic outlook as of now. He notes the current situation appears favorable.
The House of Lords adopted Lord Lansdowne's resolutions and Lord Roseberry's reform plans for the Lords without a division and sent them to the House of Commons. Parliament will be dissolved Monday. Liberal peers backed Lansdowne against the government's veto bill, signaling a shift in support.
Four Brazilian battleships including Minas Geraes mutinied in Rio de Janeiro on November 22 23 seizing ships and firing on the city. Captain Di Neves and two officers were killed. Mutineers demand abolition of corporal punishment higher pay and reduced work. The navy remained without orderly control as the firing caused terror and casualties.
The Rev. Andrew L. Armstrong, 80, pastor of the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church near Trenton, and his wife were shot to death in their home during a burglary last night. Police reported the couple were shot in the breast.
The prosecutor and county detective brought Joseph Sears to Trenton and he was held without bail on homicide charges. Rudolph Norhaus was allowed to return to New Brunswick after investigators said he had no link to the murder. Sears was subjected to a severe examination and his mother, the Armstrong household housekeeper, was impounded in Dutch Neck.
The forecast shows rain for Boston and vicinity today with a transition to fair conditions tomorrow. Brisk southerly winds become west and northwest by Saturday, as the New England coast experiences brisk south winds shifting to west.
New York November 24 The Russell Sage foundation under Mrs Sage announces plans to establish a model suburban city for moderate means on 142 acres at Forest Hills Gardens Long Island nine miles from New York City. The project aims to house 1500 families with healthy and beautiful homes.
The plan, funded by Mrs. Sage with initial 2 250 000 dollars, aims to create a self supporting community where homes cost about 25 dollars monthly including mortgage. Laboring men are initially excluded due to land costs but may be served later. The project, designed by Olmsted and Atterbury, features a railroad station in the square, a 212 acre village green, and gated entrance with ornamental offices and shops. Applicants must prove character and standing. the town is to open early next year.

Fire at two this morning in Winthrop destroyed Young's Hotel and an adjoining cottage on the Crest. Mrs Margaret Beggs of Springfield and her 16 year old son suffered serious injuries with legs broken and internal injuries. many guests leapt from windows to escape. About 20 guests were present, far fewer than peak summer capacity. No fatalities reported.
A catastrophic blaze at a four story hotel in Springfield forces guests to leap from windows and fire escapes. Mrs Margaret Leggs 40 and her son 16 suffer critical injuries as do many others. Mrs Beggs breaks both legs and internal injuries prompt hospital transport. Several cottages Idle Hour Commonwealth and Standish also burn. Fire spreads rapidly threatening entire property and surrounding buildings.
