Carnegie Institute to Open Technical School in Pittsburg

Sainthood of De La Salle Canonized in New York

A large crowd attended High Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York observing the canonization of St De La Salle. The sermon was read by Rev Father Lavelle after Bishop Denis M Bradley’s sermon was canceled by the death of Vicar General Barry. De La Salle founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools, with about 2 000 members worldwide and operating schools for Irish refugee boys among others.

Gill sued in Springfield over $20,000 attachment

A writ of attachment was filed in Springfield against Internal Revenue Collector James D. Gill for $20,000 by Ransom F. McCrillis of Methuen, former deputy collector. The writ, filed in the register of deeds, is returnable in Salem Superior Court the first Monday in December, linked to Gill’s dismissal and accusations of dishonesty.

Greatest ships building at Groton weigh 20,000 tons

Work began on keel laying for five new iron freight steamships at Eastern Shipbuilding Company Groton. Each vessel will be 630 feet long 73 feet beam and 66 feet deep with five decks and 28 000 tons coal space. They will carry nearly 1000 passengers and cruise at 14 knots averaging 4000 tons coal.

Post apple train to arrive in Boston at noon today

The Post apple train is due in Boston at noon with the express to begin distributing apples of one cent value soon after. Cars from New Hampshire points have been gathered and await orders to depart. A vast number of applications has already been received, and societies and individuals are urged to stop requesting rape stations for apples from the Post train.
