Croker Orders Clean Sweep of New York Vice Denes

Richard Croker declares Tammany Hall will close dives pool rooms and gambling dens in a citywide purge. A five member committee with George Clausen and John Scannell is to coordinate with Bishop Potter and anti vice groups to root out public officials aiding crime. Police chief Devery vows full closure while Isidor Straus urges destruction of Tammany Hall revenue from vice as the East Side is targeted.

Steamer Geranium Ashore in Kennebec Opposite Bath

The government steamer Geranium ran aground on Winsledges in the Kennebec River opposite Bath this afternoon. She is expected to float at high water with little or no damage.

Suit of clothes stolen leads to lodger arrest

John M. Merrill of 38 Stamford Street was arrested after being charged with the larceny of a suit of clothes valued at $0 from lodger F. A. Killn. The case centers on the alleged theft within the residence.
