Vicar General of New Hampshire Killed in New York Crash

The Rev. Father John E. Barry, 67, vicar general of the Manchester Concord diocese and pastor of St John s Concord NH, was fatally struck by a cable car on Broadway while mailing a letter. He died instantly. two priests accompanying him were not injured. The accident occurred near the Astor House as the party crossed the street. The conductor and motorman were arrested. Barry s body to be shipped home for Requiem Mass at St Peter s Church. He had served on Concord s school board and was a NH Historical Society member.

Cold weather forecast spreads across the U S east

Democrats Select Him to Lead New Gly Committee

The Democratic caucuses last night elected delegates favorable to Hon. James Donovan for city committee chairman and James A. Gallivan for street commissioner. Four arrests for repeating occurred. Ward 15 is doubtful in the ward committee contest. The 250 councilmanic candidates drew a large vote as wards 12, 14, 15, 21, 22, and 2% showed contests. Charlestown returned delegates aligned with Joseph J. Corbett interests amid 4600 ballots in three wards. A suspect in Ward 5 faced arrest for double voting, later identified as Francis McLaughlin.
