A new Lynn steamboat F. W. Carter is released from her Essex launching cradle and will be towed to East Boston for machinery. Captain Day of the Putnam will command, with service to the Shoe Nty area.

Aladdin charter indicated as steamship departs harbor soon

The Aladdin is slated to leave for a port after refilling water and bunker coal yesterday afternoon. The Britannic and Falk have completed three trips from the game district with 86ll tons, while the Nereide set a Nagasaki to Portland record of 29 days and 306 miles in a single day. Susie and apes lie ashore near Bass Harbor full of water, and 5600 barrels from Liverpool arrived on the Michigan with some damage. Captain Baker denies a barge accident in East River. Towboat Sweepstakes and barge Wadena headed to Norfolk. Cunarder Altonia, with 300 steerage passengers, anchored at quarantine and will reach East Boston today.

Knights of Labor Pledge Eight Hour Law at Boston Meeting

A crowd at Faneuil Hall in Boston heard John N. Parsons of New York urge support for an eight hour workday. Knights of Labor Hold First Boston Convention

Delegates from across the United States and parts of Canada gathered at Faneuil Hall for the Knights of Labor thirty first national convention the first session in Boston. About 35 delegates attended with expected totals rising to 100 or more as the ten day session began. Charlestown’s John Hurley and Governor Wolcott welcomed attendees and General Master Workman Parsons replied. A five member committee spent a couple of days on initial arrangements.

Shipwreck in Campo Bello Island Strands Crew near Eastport

The schooner Henry F. Eaton bound from New York to Eastport ran ashore at Schooner Cove off Campo Bello Island. Captain Samuel Ashford, mate Thomas Patterson, and crew reached shore with help. Patterson walked three miles barefoot for aid. Howard Zwicker’s jaw was broken in the launch. Ashford is frostbitten and exhausted. Vessel and cargo are a total loss. Crews belong to Calais.
