Rescue of 150 aboard the Patria as Hamburg American liner burns

The Hamburg American steamer Patria, en route from New York to Hamburg, caught fire near Dover. The Russian steamer Ceres rescued all 150 passengers, including women, children and six babies, transferring them to Dover where they were cared for in hotels and a Sailors' Home. Captain Frohlich and crew maintained order with calm efficiency as the fire broke out and boats were filled.
