Miss Edith Readman Survives Lynn Dye House Blast

A large table shielded Edith Readman from falling debris when a dye house explosion at G. H. Johnson on Breed Stevens Wharf in Lynn wrecked the building. Windows shattered and two men were injured as fire crews and an ambulance responded. Readman returned to work after the blast.

Explosion Injures Two Workers at Dyeing Plant

Two workers suffer serious injuries and Miss Readman narrowly escapes death when a blast tears through a dyeing room partition. Thomas Hold ing, 33, and James Brown, 22, are burned but expected to recover. Miss Readman recounts her escape. Damaged property valued around 1000 dollars.

Union Laborer Sues Over Alleged Blacklisting By Union

Magnus Friedberg, a navy yard employee, sues Branch 8 of the International Coopers' Union for 10000 damages claiming he was discharged from a Roxbury brewery after refusing to pay a union fine and that a boycott prevented further work in his trade. The case, a follow up to a 1887 dispute, names Patrick T. Cummings Dennis Dooley Bernard Donnelly P. J. Donnelly Peter Gorman and Walter Johnson as defendants in the Superior Court before Judge Gaskill.
