Boston High School Cadets Parade on City Streets

At 9:30 a.m. a parade of 3300 Boston high school cadets begins at Clarendon and Warren, marching via Columbus, Park Square, Boylston, Tremont, Bromfield, Washington, School, Beacon to Charles and the Common. Mayor Fitzgerald and Governor Foss will review the march before exercises on the Common.

Cadet Regiments Prepare Common Exercises Invitations Issued

About 15 000 invitations were issued to cadet regiments for exercises on the Common. The Common is roped off to keep the crowd of guests well looked after.

Dichloride of Mercury Fatal Poisoning in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia on May 28, Mrs Louise Zimmerman died after ingesting dichloride of mercury mistaken for headache tablets. The 11 day delayed death followed a hospital transfer and a prior belief she would recover. Her husband recalled her saying she had taken a small dose.

Harvard Man Escape Joins Cambridge Youth

James W. Murphy aged 20 from Cambridge escaped Deer Island using an old Harvard rowing sweater. A fisherman who rescued him is expected to be charged with aiding a prisoner to escape.

Sailors Quit U. S. Vessel Hibiscus At Portland

The United States lighthouse tender Hibiscus is tied up at Portland with virtually the entire crew having deserted several days ago. This marks the third mass desertion within a year as sailors seek higher wages ashore or on other ships. Coastwise shortages push up pay, but qualified men remain scarce for sailing masters.

Parade Route And Command Officers For City Parade

A city parade begins at 9 30 this morning at Clarendon and Warren and passes through Columbus avenue Park square and several main streets before disbanding on the Common. Mayor Fitzgerald reviews at City Hall and Governor Foss judges at the State House. Cadets from district high schools form at 9 o clock and the brigade, led by Colonel Frederick H Stephens, advances under a sequence of colonels ending with Colonel Ernest W Cranston at the English High School. Girl friends are to greet the cadets on the Common despite no holiday being granted to girl schools.

Charles F. Choate, counsel for United Shoe Machinery Co., presented cross examination in the U S District Court dissolution proceedings showing that 43 of the 55 acquired companies have ceased doing business, while the majority did not compete.

The government charged multiple firms in machinery manufacturing with rivalry to United Shoe Machinery Company. Choate argued purchased machines were superior or noncomparable, implying they were not direct competitors. Howard, the defense patent attorney, corroborated under cross examination.

The men of St. Catherine's parish Charlestown gathered in the vestry last night and presented their pastor the Rev. John D. Tierney with a money purse to mark his fortieth anniversary of ordination.

Revere Petition to Audit Tax Offices Rejected

A town meeting petition from Revere residents requesting a warrant to convene a June 16 town meeting to probe tax assessing and collecting was unanimously denied by the Board of Selectmen. After reading the petition, Selectman Frank H. Farrell moved to allow withdrawal, noting citizens could call a town meeting themselves without the board’s action.
