The American line steamer Haverford, outward bound from Liverpool to Philadelphia with 134 cabin and 850 steerage passengers, ran aground west of Cork's Head in thick fog. Wireless communication with Queenstown enabled rapid rescue, with tugs and fire engines dispatched to aid.

Edward Saunders aged 32 of Roslindale turned himself in at Dorchester police after a warrant charged him with manslaughter in the death of Louis Sobel a Dorchester boy killed on Talbot avenue last Tuesday night. Saunders was released in 5000 bail provided by his landlord George H Hamlin of Guernsey street.
Special Officer Balsh obtained a warrant for Saunders arrest. Saunders, informed by his attorney from Sprout Kendall at 18 Tremont Street, surrendered at the police station last night. Police say evidence ties Saunders to the car involved in a fatal hit and run on Talbot Avenue. Saunders has rented a Hamlin home for four years and arrived in a gray car with a black stripe matching the description of the vehicle.
At a Boston Telephone Operators Union meeting last night it was announced every member will receive a wage increase averaging $1 a week, taking effect Sunday June 1. Vacations workers receive the raise upon starting. Payroll will use round numbers, with some raises like $1.04 or $1.10. The joint board of adjustment will decide how supervisors’ increases are calculated, while split tricks remain unsettled but under review.

At 110-112 Broadway Chelsea a three story tenement suffered a fire causing about 6000 in damage. Deputy Chief Williamson rescued four children Lillian Levenson 10 Myron 5 Bertha 3 Alfred 1 from the second floor. The Levenson parents were out. 85 year old Horovitz grandparents were helped out. A separate family, Mrs Burkman and her three children, were saved by police and firemen.
