Farewell Services Close Second Church Boston Era
The last service at Second Church Congregational Unitarian in Copley Square marked farewell to the minister and edifice. Rev. Thomas Van Ness preached his final sermon to a large crowd as plans for the church’s future, possibly a merger or new building, were discussed. The ceremony honored long-time supporters and featured music and anecdotes from the church’s 1649 origins.
