Gubernatorial Boom for Crapo Faces Rival Gentry
The Tremont House gathering of twenty five leading Republicans discussed backing W. W. Crapo of New Bedford for governor. While some expect a Russell challenge, the Post reports Russell will not seek the nomination and will back Crapo. Other lawmakers warn booms are premature and risk losing support, with party leaders cautious about commitment.
