The remaining passengers of the ill fated Thingvalla steamer Danmark were landed at Castle Garden by the Hamburg steamer Wieland. An 82 year old passenger, Andersen, died aboard the Wieland. Andersen's wife lives in Gowan Michigan and has been notified by telegraph.

William Henry Davenport a 53 year old wood turner and brother of actress Fanny Davenport committed suicide in San Francisco by morphine. His death followed heavy drinking. Edgar L. Davenport of the Boston Museum denied any relation, saying he has only one brother Harry Bryant Davenport in New York and two sisters Fanny and May. he did not know the man.
