The Boston and Maine is expected to gain from the decision as the Montreal line passed from Lowell to Maine through sub leasing. The rescript decision will be filed tomorrow with the clerk of the court and lawyers anticipate a favorable result for the Boston and Maine.

Washington May 6. Leading New York and Pacific coast capitalists plan a Pacific coast gun foundry to forge the largest ordnance. They note a hundred ton gun cannot pass continental bridges, highlight Union Iron Works as a model, and cite Bethlehem Steel Works as the only U S plant for largest calibres. Plans aim to duplicate this on the Pacific coast with state backing.
On May 6 a group of about forty G A R men from Lynn gathered in Portsmouth with a drawing committee for General Lander Post No 5. They traveled to Four Tree Island by boat to conduct the lottery. Sheriff Coffin and deputies met them at City wharf and escorted them to the County Solicitor, who discharged them for lack of sufficient evidence. The capital prize is believed to have been drawn by a Manchester ticket.
Worcester May 6 Special. The Worcester board of aldermen refused to reconsider the distribution of liquor licenses. The action ends George F. Hewitt's license bid, a leading city wholesaler, amid partisan influence. Hewitt's Democratic prominence is cited as the reason for the denial. The decision may boost a citizens ticket in the next municipal election.
The full bench of the Supreme Court upholds Commonwealth v Philip Marzynski convicting him for keeping open shop on the Lord's Day. It rules cigars sold by a tobacconist in the ordinary course are not dry or medicines under the statute.
