Massachusetts Grand Lodge Of Good Templars Elects Officers

The annual session at Paine Memorial hall elected G W C Leonard of Salem and Amanda Root of East Douglass as grand wardens, Toyte of Worcester as vice grand, Mrs S A Leonard of Cambridge as grand sentinel, Edwin Patch of Lyon as grand trustee, and James Roy of Cambridge as marshal. Delegates to the Right Worthy Grand Lodge and constitutional prohibition convention were chosen, with Worcester to host the next semi annual meeting. A finance committee was named and the ban on junior orders set at 1060 dollars, with per capita tax at 10 cents. A charter for a new lodge in Fitchburg was granted.

Dominion takes steps to seek Massachusetts compensation

Ottawa reports the dominion government has authorized communication with the U S president through the British minister to present Roger Amero's claim for compensation. Amero, a French Canadian British subject, was held in Massachusetts on a murder indictment without trial, losing property and causing grave family distress.

Catherine Reagan mother of councilman Reagan died at 58 after a long illness at her Brighton street home. Charles A Crockett proprietor of the Crockett house Nantasket Beach died March 17 at 63 after a years of disease. Edward S Lesley of Newburyport died March 18 aged about 81, a former Ocean Mills agent and machinist who built the Esley fire engines still used in some counties.
