Record of rapid transatlantic freight arrivals and dock activity
Yesterday saw three steamers arrive from Liverpool and Central American ports then three more depart for Liverpool Queens town and St. Johns, in all carrying grain, sugar and mahogany logs. Sugar imports total about 16000 tons in five days, while a large mahogany cargo and a shipyard fleet expansion dominated harbor business.

Johnson Beats Officers and Wins Probation in Court
Robert Johnson, a colored man, fought off three or four officers single handed yesterday. He admitted being no angel but argued his conduct improved after six months. The judge released him after probation officer Keefe confirmed his honesty and Johnson was found not guilty on the charge. Taylor and Prior were sentenced to two months at the House of Correction for stealing Edmund Tourigney’s watch. Donovan faced grand jury charges after holding up Henry Ryan and was held on $2000 bond.
