Lieutenant Patrick Goggan and Richard McLaughlin were injured when Engine 36 collided with an auto mail truck at Sullivan and Main streets. They were taken to Relief Hospital where Goggan suffered a back strain and bruises while McLaughlin had a gash to the head and a crushed arm. The engine was responding to a fire on the second floor of a three story wood building at 118 Russell Street, occupied by James Strong. Damage was slight and cause of the fire unknown.
