Mayor seeks state purchase of old T wharf for modern dock

Mayor Fitzgerald told City Hall reporters that a wharf advertised for sale should be bought by the Dock Commission to develop for steamship lines and possibly a public landing. He argues Boston’s waterfront should be developed and that the fish industry near the heart of the city should be moved from the T dock to prevent ongoing use by fishermen.

Lowell Woman Saves 2 Lives in Gloucester Bay

In Gloucester on June 3 a Lowell resident Mrs. John Felt observed two men, Andrew Swanson and his 19 year old son Wein, struggling after their motor boat capsized off Cooney's Ledge. She signaled for help. William Garrow and Gaspi Contrino rescued the son with a rope while Hans Palmquist saved the father.

The Fifth Massachusetts veterans held a reunion at Nantasket with a dinner at the Atlantic House. Of 985 original members, 261 survive. Fifty attended, plus about 40 Sons and Daughters of Veterans. Officers elected include Codman as honorary president and Fisher as association president. Secretary Whitcomb reported 19 deaths since last summer.

Court Allows Fletcher Will In Palmist case

The will of John William Fletcher the palmist was admitted yesterday. Charles R. Knapp of Lowell was named executor and posted a $30,000 bond. The chief beneficiary Cameron A. Patchin of New York palmist receives $19,500 of an estate valued at $28,500.

Revolver Drawn In Portugal's Senate Incident

In Lisbon on June 25 a violent Senate scene stalled as Senator Arthur Costa confronted Joao Jose de Freitas. Freitas drew a revolver and pointed it at Costa, but fellow senators tackled him and disarmed the weapon.
