San Francisco June 25 Clayton Herrington federal investigator of white slave cases for the Department of Justice received notice of his suspension without pay He had sent a night letter to President Wilson charging officials in the Justice and Commerce and Labor departments with preventing deportation of French prostitutes and demanding a full investigation He criticized the President for approving in words but overruling in deeds and urged dismissal of McReynolds while retaining McNab. He said the object had been accomplished with the Attorney General ordered to trial forthwith and resisted further influential improper pressure.

Mackay Sails With His Children Wife Behind
The Mackays’ planned sailing is in doubt amid reports of a custody dispute. Police say Mackay moved his children from Spring Lake to Hoboken in a fleet of cars with private detectives ahead of the ship, then closed the suite until sailing time. A Nassau trust deed filed February 20 shifts estate control to Mackay, with his wife Katherine Duer signing over interest. Mrs Mackay, ill at the Plaza, said she gifted the property to him. Mackay then took the children to Georgetown North Carolina before returning to New York and a Carlton House apartment.

Rear Admiral Robert Potts United States Navy retired former Boston chief engineer of the navy yard dies at 78 after a long service. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. at St Matthew's Church with Loyal Legion honor guard. Interment in Arlington. Potts, born May 8 1835 in Dublin, served since 1860 through the Civil War aboard Niagara and Montauk among others. He leaves a son Louis J. Potts and three daughters in religious work.
