Miss Delia Farley Dana daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Henry Dana of Cambridge and granddaughter of Longfellow married Robert Hare Hutchinson of Philadelphia. Bennett and McLaughlin households present diverging accounts, keeping Malden and Dorchester alert to the possible climactic outcome in the entangled romance. Mrs Bennett, a widow with many children, remains a key figure in the crossfire.
