Havemeyer Attacks Tariff as Mother of Trusts

The trial of George Beauregard Barrow for kidnapping Marion Clark opened before Justice Fursman. Carrie Jones pleaded guilty to abetting the case and will testify against the Barrows. Jurors were selected after a challenge to the panel, and Arthur W. Clark testified about Carrie Jones’s role and the abduction.

Sampson's Squadron for Boston Today Sailors Parade Ahead

The North Atlantic squadron, including the New York Massachusetts Texas and Indiana, sails from Newport at noon and arrives Boston Harbor by 5 pm to parade for the Bunker Hill Carnival. Ships carry heavy main batteries with range from 12 to 13 inches and crews from 359 to 526 men. Costs run from about 2.5 to 3.25 million dollars per vessel.

Woman wounded in failed suicide attempt in Roxbury

Mrs. H Edna Nix 28, of 1 Baker Park Roxbury, shot herself in the left breast but the wound proved a powder burn from a blank 82 caliber cartridge. She is at City Hospital, anxious but not in immediate danger, with relatives noting distress over recent health and heat.
