Bay of Islands Village Destroyed by Fire

The Newfoundland settlement Bay of Islands on the French shore was burned yesterday. Sixty nine houses were destroyed and fifty seven families left homeless. French and British warships are aiding the distressed residents while further relief steps are arranged.

Norwegian Ship Saratoga Wrecked off Buenos Aires

A cablegram from Buenos Ayres reports the Norwegian ship Saratoga built in East Boston in 1874 is a total wreck after sailing from Pensacola on March 16 bound for Puerto Belgrano. Captain Bache commanded the 1362 ton vessel formerly named Friederike with Christiania as halfling port and owned by C Zernichow.
