Suffragette Disruption at Caxton Hall Meeting

Will Crooks MP for Woolwich was blocked from speaking at Caxton Hall by suffragettes aided by male supporters. Fist fights erupted, Crooks abandoned his speech, and attackers were expelled. In the Commons a flour bag from the strangers' gallery burst near the speaker’s chair as a leaflet disparaging Miss Emily Davison fluttered down. Lawrence Marvin of the Men’s Society was arrested.

Rain Spoils Brookline Children's Fete For Charity

Sunshine returned for the postponed North Bennet Street Industrial School fete on Moses Williams estate in Brookline yesterday drawing about 150 attendees. Outdoor booths, a Japanese tea house, folk dances, and colorful costumes energized the crowd as patronesses including Mrs. Bartel, Miss Homans, and Mrs. Shaw supported the event despite Saturday rain.

Wedding of Irene Snow and Theodore Plimpton Fetes Society

Prominent Brookline Boston and New York society guests fill Arlington Street Church for the wedding of Miss Irene Snow daughter of Mr and Mrs Frederick August Snow of Brookline to Theodore Barnet Plimpton of Newton. Women to Parade on Flag Day

Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels will speak at the Flag Day banquet Saturday night at the Elks Club on Somerset street. The day will close with a military parade of about 10,000. Earlier he will tour the Boston Press Club and address its members.

Mass Boston Military Parade to Feature Women in Lineup

A large Saturday parade will include Coast Artillery Corps marines sailors and many veterans groups with the Daughters of Veterans in white dresses and red sashes. The event marking the first city parade with women, will be reviewed at City Hall and the State House by city and state officials. Two dreadnoughts are en route to Boston with crews slated to participate.

Talk on rate boost tonight at Chamber meeting

At the Copley Plaza Hotel this evening a chamber of commerce gathering will discuss a proposed general 5 percent freight rate increase in the northeast. The event is expected to bring the largest New England shipper turnout, with over 75 trade leaders from Boston and outside. Light Rowing for Poughkeepsie Crews on Hudson River

River crews from Pennsylvania Columbia and Washington paddled easy long rows late this afternoon on the Hudson. No time trials were run and none will be until Saturday or early next week as exams end Friday. Coaches expect improved weather to allow heavier work. Cornell Pennsylvania and Wisconsin finished a river row alongside.

Four Die In Explosion on Steam Barge E M Peck

In Racine Wisconsin on June 1 a boiler explosion on the steam barge E M Peck killed four crewmen and destroyed the vessel. Second engineer Bernard H Schwenzen is missing and presumed drowned. Two injured crew members are not expected to recover. The barge was moving to a new dock when the blast occurred. 25 stevedores on board had just decided to walk ashore. Captain Logan was ashore at the time.
