The United Question Clubs of Massachusetts press Senator Dawes for categorical answers on iron and steel. They demand data on world pig iron totals, U.S. production and consumption, price differences with Britain, and the tariff impact. They cite recent figures of 60 million tons consumed in the U.S. and claim a $7 to $14 per ton price gap, seeking accountability for taxes and domestic industry costs.

The New York market opened weak but improved toward noon led by trust stocks coalers and Vanderbilts.
