Judges Restrict Public Release Of Letters In Publishing Case
Judge Braley ruled letters offered as evidence must be kept private. Whipple for the trustees accused directors of wielding control to render the trustees' offices untenable, claiming the directors would turn the publishing company into a shell. He asserted directors interfered with company affairs and circulated literature to sway Christian Science Church members, challenged statements about McCracken, and said the directors sought to take charge of management if injunctions were modified. He argued Mrs. Eddy’s estate retained direction rights until 1910, after her death none could oppose her guidance.
