Berlin officials protest new Rhenish Republic while British support signals possible relief in Allied peace terms. Germany’s counter proposals prompt consideration of relaxing financial demands and territorial relinquishments by the Council of Four as talks proceed.
Reports from Paris indicate German positions attract support in several conference corners. President Wilson and the American peace delegation discuss counter proposals on reparations and economic terms. Britain reportedly favors several concessions to Germany amid ongoing deliberations.
National League games included Boston 2 Brooklyn 1 and Brooklyn 4 Boston 3 in two games. Chicago beat Pittsburgh 1 to 0 and Philadelphia 7 New York 4 with Cincinnati St Louis rain. American League matchups saw Boston 4 Washington 3 and New York 10 Philadelphia 9 plus Detroit 7 Chicago 3 and St Louis 14 Cleveland 41 in game one. Cleveland 8 St Louis 5 in game two. Washington June 3 Attor ney General Palmer declares the bomb outrages in several cities a lawless anarchistic attempt to terrorize the country and halt government actions. He says the attacks utterly failed and will only spur criminal detective efforts.
Federal, state, and Boston police hunted suspects after bomb incidents at homes of Judge Albert F. Hayden in Roxbury and Representative Leland Powers in Newtonville. One man was arrested on suspicion while authorities had no firm clues about the perpetrators.
Lieutenant-Commander A C Read and NC-4 crew, including Rear Admiral Plunkett and officers from NC-3 and NC-1, arrived in Paris from Newfoundland to Plymouth. They were greeted by Admiral Long and Captain Chauvin, with a dinner at the Crillon hosted for Read.
Paris June 3 General Pilsudski commander of the Polish forces sent a telegram to the peace conference denying any breach of the armistice with the Ukraine. He states Polish troops only counter attacked Ukrainian incursions and notes Poles and Rumanians have formed a joint front after a junction.
Washington June 3 Final Senate action on the House resolution to submit the Susan B Anthony woman suffrage constitutional amendment was stalled by debate led largely by suffrage opponents and by discussion of the peace treaty. The measure was left unfinished business with expected adoption before adjournment tomorrow.
Chairman Watson announced he would insist on a Senate session tomorrow until the final vote on the resolution adopted by the House two weeks ago. Managers of the resolution gave up hope of a vote today.
Secretary Baker told the House military committee he authorized the sale of 25 million dollars worth of surplus army food stocks to the Cooperative Farehase Society of Russia. The society has 20,000,000 heads of families and will exchange the food for raw materials needed in the United States. Baker said some of the food probably would reach the Bolsheviki.

A triple drowning incident near midstream on the Charles River was halted last evening just after 10 by two rowmen who assisted three youths attempting to rescue a companion stricken with cramps while swimming.
David Kandler 18 collapses in the Charles near Harvard bridge while swimming with Manuel Bender 18 and Barney Singer 35. Bender and Singer attempt rescue, both disappear briefly, reappear. Bender uses crutches to help Kandler until a boat assists. All three receive first aid and return home.
In Hartford on June 3 Judge Keeler granted two defense motions in the first degree murder case of Amy E Archer Gilligan. The case, linked to deaths at Archer Home for Elderly People, will be tried in Middlesex County with a June 12 opening in Middletown. Additional counsel Benedict Holden was approved and Dr Otto Schulze named as chief expert witness.
